Things you can do more in 2019

Here’s a list of things I compiled for you - small but significant things you can do more in 2019 as the new year approaches. you can let them be your new year resolutions as well.

no 'get fit', 'use a bullet journal every day', 'wake up early', 'drink more' type of resolutions. those are great, but I'm here to share important, detailed goals that most people I know wouldn't set as new year resolutions.


✦ gradually understand and accept that ' change ' is the only constant in our lives

✧ continue, continue, continue. life is tough, but you're already here, and let us all press on

✦ don't trust nostalgia too much. there's a reason why you're no longer in contact with someone. there's a reason why someone is no longer a part of your life. reflect and move forward in life

✧ remember to take rest days [do not underestimate your self-care days. it's good for both your mental and physical health, as well as for finding inspiration and recharging your energy]


✧ expose yourself to new music genres and artists

✦ forgive yourself. open up about acceptance and allow your mistakes to make you a better person

✧ the night before, jot down your tasks for the next day

✦ make it a habit to listen to others. not to reply, but to understand them

✧ mix up your fixed routines once in a while to spice up your day


✦ write down lyrics and/or quotes that are really meaningful and helpful for you. remember them. remind yourself of them constantly.

✧ dine alone. there's nothing wrong with it - just bring a book, appreciate your surroundings or people watch

✦ don't let your past perceptions invalidate your current mindset. you've grown, and if people fail to see that, it's their loss


✧ dance more (even if you think you can't)

✦ go for the little joys in life. meet with a friend, dance around in your bedroom, get your favorite go-to drink when you feel like it. there's no need to wait until the weekends to actually live

✧ always be good to people. even when they aren't doing the same. don't let their attitude affect your own morals


✦ stop comparing yourself to others. "because she competes with no one, no one can compete with her."

✧ stop trying to please this imaginary audience you have in your head. start making yourself proud

✦ always be kind. if someone makes you happy, make them happier


✧ love love love all you possibly can

✦ make it a habit to manage and track your expenses regularly

✧ focus on yourself. because you're you, and you only have one life, so who else are you really supposed to be centered on?


✦ forgive people. it doesn't always have to be because you're giving them another chance. forgive so that you can reflect, move on and do better.

✧ make more friends in the We Heart It community

✦ reach out to friends you haven't seen or talked to in months (or even years)
