Build Healthy Habits

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. —Aristotle

Did you know, it takes twenty-one days to make or break a habit?

Easy-peasy you think; not quite.

Some things are easier said than done; committing to build healthy habits is not an exclusion. And getting rid of bad habits is not like drinking a detox tea with almost immediate results.

Habits, good or bad, they have an important impact on our overall health and social life. Therefore, it is wise to develop new habits around good things.

Here are habits you should build up, for a healthy you; Physically and mentally.

You are what you eat

Like, I'll be half joking if I say I'm a fruit basket.

A balanced and nutritional diet is very important for our overall wellness.

Opt for less junk food, less takeout, less fast foods. Incorporate more fruits and vegetables to your daily diet, cook your own meals.

Try eating organic and Non-GMO foods. Eat more vegetarian and vegan food.

Write it down

One way to start the day with positive thoughts is to write your goals for the day, the month, the year ... your whole life.

I love notebooks with whimsical and beautiful designs; they are like a call-to-action to which I gladly respond to.

Any kind of paper or writing material will work, really. But if you can, look for a notebook or notepad so inspiring, that it will make you reach for it, every day when you wake up.

Practice yoga

Yoga is one of those things that sound and look intimidating, time-consuming, and difficult; but it's not. All you need is the initiative.

One day you start by stretching your arms; next day arms and legs, and before you know it, you are scratching your scalp with your toes. Sight! If only.

Your body won't stretch just because you mentally wish for it. You have to work for it. Start with simple stretches, few minutes a day. Make it a routine, increase the movements and the time you put into it. In no time, your body will ask you to stretch and it will become a good habit.

You can practice at home; on your own. There are plenty of videos and tutorials online that can help you. You need not to pay for classes and buy fancy equipment (unless that's what you want).

Meditate

Do you often feel stressed or agitated over a situation? Need some mental relaxation? Meditate.

Find a nice and quiet place in your home or outdoor. Close your eyes, breath, and let yourself drift away. Chant positive mantras if you like.

Do this for a few minutes a day as often as you can/need.

Opt for natural products

So, your hair is prone to breakage, your skin is dry, your face is dull. Well, the answer may not be in stores.

I wouldn't say the claims on the labels of beauty and personal care products are false advertisement. But how many shampoo bottles you have in your bathroom? How many facial masks? Because even here, you must kiss many frogs to find the prince.

Coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, baking soda, essential oils, tea bags, fruits, vegetables, and many other natural products already in our kitchen, are a universal solution for many of our skin concerns, hair problems, and minor health worries.

Less Social Media

Your late-night and early morning routine include infinite scrolling? Whatever you do with your time it's totally up to up. But how much of social media you need?

Implement some healthy changes to your social media usage. Reduce your daily dose perhaps? Let it not be the first thing you do in the morning, nor the last thing you do at night.

Commitment And Will Power

Whether you are setting new goals or continuing to work on old ones to better your life physically and/or mentally, it is important to understand your objective, expect realist results, be committed, and have a strong will.

It is ok to fall back or fail. But please, try again.

Which of the habits above is part of your daily life? Which one sounds like a new goal?

I hope this article was of inspiration to you.
