5 Things That Will Actually Make You WANT to Work Out

Your New Year’s resolution may have been to start exercising more, but we get it -- it can be hard to get yourself up to work out. On the days that we’re really not feeling it, we have to bribe ourselves to get out of bed and to the gym. Luckily, these bribes seem to be working, so we’re sharing them with our hearters who might be in the same boat as us! Continue reading for the five things that will make you actually want to work out.

Find a routine that you like

First, find a time that you like to work out. Are you more of “get it out of the way in the morning” kind of gal, or more of a “sweat out the whole day” person?! It doesn’t matter, as long as you get up!

Choose a place you love to work out. Whether it’s a park that you like running in, a gym that has all your favorite equipment, or an app that has the best at-home workout, make sure you’re doing something you love. Our favorite apps at the moment?

Nike Training App - This app is so fun and FREE. You can choose from hundreds of workouts that works different parts of your body. It’s guided, and you can always choose your intensity! I like to use this app when I’m at the gym. The workouts make us feel badass!

Alo Yoga - This is the ultimate app for all you yogis out there. If you thought Alo only had cute workout gear, you’re wrong. We. Love. This. App.

Put on cute workout clothes

This is key. Like, you’ve heard the phrase, “look good, feel good” -- it works for all fashion choices (even workout fashion choices). We swear, when we’re in a matching set from Varley versus an old college shirt and seven year old leggings, we slay at the gym.

What’s better than watching yourself in the gym mirrors in your cute activewear from Lilybod KILLING your workout? Honestly, we can’t think of anything better. We like to invest a little more money in our workout clothes because we like to look our best when working out and also the material is 100x better. Trust us, you’ll feel the difference.

And of course we love our motivational tops from Spiritual Gangster!

Listen to good music

There's a playlist for every type of workout we do. And you should constantly keep these playlists updated because who wants to listen to the same set of songs every time they work out?!

Take time making them… you won’t be sorry!

Treat yourself to a workout class

It’s good to surround yourself with people who have similar goals. We’ve found that workout classes get us SO pumped because we’re motivated by the people around us.

Find one that you love or find 20 on Class Pass. Whatever works.

Set goals to motivate yourself

We don’t think we could ever get up and get to our workout if it wasn’t for our goals that we set for ourselves. Every week, we set a new goal, whether it’s big or small!

Goal Examples

Be able to run one extra mile on the treadmill by the end of the week.

Be able to hold your squat for an extra 30 seconds without keeling over in misery.

Allow yourself to sit and just breathe for five minutes.

So -- did this help?! Are you ready to get up and get moving?! It may take a while, but we promise you, it will be worth it!
