How to live a healthy life

Hi guys! Hope you're having a good day. Today's article is part of my "How To" series and will be focusing on how to live a healthy life. As always, enjoy.

Stay physically active

We all know that being active and moving around has numerous benefits. This is absolutely essential to living a healthy life. Try to move around even when at work or school and make sure you aren't sitting for more than 45 minutes straight. Exercise around 30 minutes each day.

Eat clean

Eating clean is vital to healthy life. You must be eating mostly unprocessed foods, whole grains, vegetables and fruits. I recommend minimizing sugar, dairy, and red meat intake (which is very hard, but it will pay off in the end). Also make sure to drink enough water and avoid greasy foods and alcohol.

Reduce screen time

This week my challenge is limiting my screen time. Since I'm in quarantine, basically the only thing I do is go on my laptop or phone. Even if it's for good reasons- like studying, writing, and exercise- it still is not good for you. Break up your screen time with activities like walks, small exercise breaks, reading (a PAPER book), etc.

Nurture your body

I absolutely love self-care and stores like Lush, Bath & Body Works, Glossier, The Body Shop, and Sephora. Why? Because body care really helps a healthy life. When you shower, make sure to exfoliate and scrub your body. Trim and maintain your nails. Moisturize daily. Clean your teeth- brush, floss, rinse! Brush your hair out and keep it healthy. Use face masks and keep up your skincare routine. Why? Taking care of the little details is essential to being healthy.

Look your best

Now, being healthy doesn't mean you look a certain way. But we all feel good when we're wearing amazing outfits, our skin is glowing, and our muscles popping! Make sure your clothes and hairstyles are actually comfortable (comfort is part of health too!) and that you like wearing them. It'll make you look confident and healthier.

Be kind to people + yourself

Health is not just external, it's internal. Being a genuinely nice and friendly person will boost your mental health. That being said, don't let people take advantage of you, and try not to be self-critical, but instead, self-improving.

Get outside more

Since we're kinda in the Covid-19 pandemic, I admittedly have barely gone outside. I'm going to try to go for some walks in the forest near my house this week. Going outside combines physical and mental health benefits into one.

Get plenty of sleep

We all know being healthy requires getting in sleep. Since many of us are not working or at school, let's take advantage of our relaxed schedules to get in more sleep. Aim for at least 8 hours per night, and stay away from your phone before bed and after waking up.

That's all for today guys! Stay safe, stay kind, stay healthy!
